Improve processes with Lean Six Sigma

This training is designed for teams who want to improve their own processes using the fact-based problem solving method Lean Six Sigma.

You will learn to use facts and analysis to prioritize the right projects and solutions.

We use Six Sigma's DMAIC model for the problem solving:

 
  • Define: Understand problem and set goals
  • Measure: Map current situation
  • Analyze: Prove true root causes
  • Improve: Measures to solve root causes
  • Control: Create lasting results

The training is for teams of 4-8 people and we will work on a company specific challenge related to quality, time (productivity) or cost. Course duration is determined based on a conversation about needs. Usually 2-5 days.

Course content:


 

The course will give you an introduction to Lean Six Sigma, and teach you tools and concepts that are relevant to you. You can expect to learn about:

 
  • What Lean Six Sigma is?
  • Expected results by applying Lean Six Sigma
  • How to increase customer focus and understand customers better
  • How to structure your project selection to achieve your strategic goals
  • How to set specific goals and metrics
  • How to identify processes in your work situation
  • Process mapping to understand the process and identify possible root causes
  • How to decide if an activity is value-adding or non-value-adding
  • Different types of waste and how to reduce waste to improve flow and increase productivity
  • Tools to understand variation, stability and capability: what can you expect based on historical data?
  • The difference between normal and special cause variation
  • How to calculate the effect of your improvements
  • How to ask critical questions, look for facts and be open to possible solutions
  • Challenge established truths
 

During training we will develop an action plan of how to improve the process, and use your data along the way if you wish. 

The course includes practical exercises and tasks to promote learning. Your own data is used as far as possible. The content is tailored to your needs.

The course is adapted to your needs and duration is adjusted based on what's relevant for you. 

Practical information

The course is arranged on request from companies with 6-15 participants. Courses can be tailored to your business needs, and your own data can be used in examples and assignments. 

Open courses are arranged according to the course calendar. 

Online course & online course with coaching can be started whenever you want. 

Lunch, refreshments and drinks during classroom training are included, and you receive a course certificate upon completion.

Location

Classroom training is organized at the locations Lean Tech disposes at Lillestrøm (Svelleveien 33). Good access to parking spaces. It's 2 km from Lillestrøm train station.

Lean Tech has an agreement with Thon hotels and can set up courses elsewhere if needed. It is also possible to arrange business courses at the Company's location.

Instructor

Instructor Sissel Pedersen Lundeby is IASSC (International association for Six Sigma certification) accredited trainer associate (only-one in Norway per August 2019):

"This accreditation publically reflects that you have met the standards established by IASSC such that those who participate in a training program led by you can expect to receive an acceptable level of knowledge transfer consistent with the Lean Six Sigma belt Bodies of Knowledge as established by IASSC."

Sissel has a Master in Chemical Engineering from NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and 20 year's experience within manufacturing and environmental technology. In 2002 she started working at a US company where she was introduced to Six Sigma and completed her Black Belt certification. In 2017, she was also certified Black Belt through IASSC.

Sissel has positive experience using Lean Six Sigma to improve and focuses on measurable results. The courses use practical, recognizable examples and communicate Lean Six Sigma in a way that is easy to understand.
